It is often  said that magnesium is explosive and dangerous. Actually it will explode in the form of powder, however, even wheat, iron , coal and so on are explosive too.

However magnesium does not catch fire in the form of sheet like 1mm thick. The following video demonstrates of safety of magnesium.
